Hi everyone,
This outlines some proposed changes for the new Long Island High School Ball Hockey League. There's been a lot of discussion lately, and we wanted to clarify some key points:
Local Leadership: We believe a Long Island-based league leader can better understand our needs and make quicker decisions.
Standardized Rules: Currently, flexibility regarding roster size and other regulations is limited. A new league would allow more control and potentially implement rules that better suit us.
Jersey Savings: We can explore alternative jersey vendors, potentially leading to significant cost savings for all teams.
Maintaining Participation: A key benefit of a new league would be more flexibility in roster size. Currently rosters are set at the minimum of 15 players, a new league could allow for adjustments that better suit team needs.
"Democratic Decision-Making: A new structure would allow each school a representative vote on future rules, ensuring everyone has a say.
Improved Playing Conditions: Most games would be played indoors, providing a more comfortable and consistent environment.
Top-Tier Officiating: We're committed to securing the best local referees for fair and high-quality officiating.
We understand change can be challenging, but these proposals offer significant advantages for our players.
In the coming weeks, we'll host a Google Meet to discuss these changes in more detail and answer any questions.
The season will begin in October 2024. More information to follow. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us.
